The destruction of methane via the project activity would not result in any income other than that derived through revenues generated from the JI exchange mechanism. The project activity is not financially attractive under any scenario except through JI related income.
The total investment to equip the Kraskovo landfill site with a LFG collection system and power generators (Alternative 3) will be much higher than the equipment for LFG capture and subsequent flaring. Moreover, taking into account the very low selling price of electricity (approx. 0,015 €/kWh) and the complex regulatory circumstances for power generation the feasibility of electricity generation could not be considered as a baseline.
For this reason, the only remaining plausible baseline scenario is Alternative 1 (No capture of LFG from the landfill site).
